FIRST 5: five things that make basketball better than football

"which is better: basketball or football?" this question can stir a good conversation and, if taken to extreme proportions, may end with someone being rushed to the hospital. die-hards and aficionados have their own stances about the matter. just like inter-religious dialogue, an agreement may be made but no one will just concede to another without putting up one hell of a fight for it.

in my attempt to add to more trouble to this debate, here are five things, in my opinion, that make basketball better than football.

1. AND 1. there is much pleasure in making a shot after getting fouled... and getting rewarded with a free throw for it.

2. THREE POINT SHOT. how in the world can you catch a big lead up with the clock against you? maybe t-mac can tell you how.

3. THE CLOCK STOPS IN THE EVENT OF AN INJURY. yes, soccer may have injury time, but where's the compassion?

4. THE DUNK. you can kick the ball in multiple acrobatic ways, but stuffing the ball inside the rim is the show stopper.

5. IN THE END, THERE'S A WINNER. there can only be one, and the score tells you who the winner is. scoreless and/or tied games just don't make sense.

thank god basketball didn't have the same rules as football, otherwise, we'll be watching more of this:

anyway, basketball is always > football. for me, that is.
