i miss singing this song on a saturday morning in the minor seminary, during community rosary around mater dei. another composition from the focolare movement in the philippines, the song reflects on how mary's life was a life of love: for his son whom she followed even at the foot of the cross, for joseph whose silent witnessing made her a witness of his son's life, and for god to whom nothing is impossible.
Song for Mary
When I look upon your face,
I see a gentle smile of ages past
I see a simple smile of mother's stare
A mother's care, a mother's special kind of love
And in the silent years that pass
Living his words which bind your life of love
A sword and spear which have torn your heart
Bore you a son, made for you a life of love
You have held the whole world in your hands,
watch it slowly fade away.
But you believed in love,
believed in the only way there is to be
You believed in love.
You have held the whole world in your hands,
watch it slowly fade away.
But you believed in love,
believed in the only way there is to be
(there is to be, there is to be)
(there is to be, there is to be)
You believed in love.
You believed in love.
You believed in love.
